It is time for another Center Stage Event!

 Kanabec Hospital is dedicated to the health and wellness of its communities. In keeping with this commitment, Kanabec Hospital Board members have made a decision to build a new clinic in the Pine City community.

About 795,000 Americans will suffer a stroke this year, yet most Americans cannot identify stroke symptoms or risk factors. Many strokes – some studies indicate that up to 80 percent – can be prevented through risk factor management.  The month of May marks National Stroke Awareness Month annually and in keeping with this theme, Kanabec Hospital is placing an increased focus on education and awareness about stroke.

Kanabec Hospital has received “Excellence in Birth Registration” award from the Office of the State Registrar in the Minnesota Department of Health. The award was presented on April 30, 2010, at the third annual “Excellence in Birth Registration” training conference in St. Paul. The awards recognize hospitals for accurate and timely birth registration.

 Kanabec Hospital has created a scholarship in order to aid area high school students who intend to pursue a healthcare career. It is the hope of the hospital that the scholarship will ease the financial strain of obtaining a post-secondary degree while encouraging exceptional young people to pursue careers in the healthcare industry. Kanabec Hospital has awarded its second annual scholarships to four promising young students in our communities.

Kanabec Hospital has met all criteria for Laboratory Accreditation by COLA, a national healthcare accreditation organization.

A  hospital is more than a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and represents hope. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, to welcoming new life into the world, hospitals are central to a well and healthy community. That’s the message Kanabec Hospital is hoping to communicate with the 2010 National Hospital Week theme “Health, Hope & Healing.”
