Kanabec Hospital Awards Area Students $2000 Scholarship

June 2009

Kanabec Hospital has created a scholarship in order to aid area high school students who intend to pursue a healthcare career. It is the hope of the hospital that the scholarship will ease the financial strain of obtaining a post-secondary degree while encouraging exceptional young people to pursue careers in the healthcare industry. Kanabec Hospital has awarded its first annual scholarships to four promising young students in our communities.

This scholarship is in the amount of $2000 and is renewable for up to four years. The Kanabec Hospital Scholarship will be awarded annually to students from Mora, Ogilvie, Pine City and Hinckley High Schools who are pursuing an education in the healthcare field.

The 2009- 2010 scholarships have been awarded to four very deserving seniors. Bethany Johnson, the Ogilvie recipient, will be attending the College of St. Scholastica while pursuing a degree in nursing. Amy Fore of the Mora High School will be attending Winona State University while studying to become a Physician’s Assistant. Rachel Miller of Hinckley High School will be attending the College of St. Scholastica while pursing a nursing degree. Rachel Pulju of Pine City will be studying nursing at Concordia College in Moorhead.

These students have worked hard throughout their high school careers and are excellent candidates. Kanabec Hospital is proud to support them in all their future endeavors. “These kids are the future of healthcare” says CEO, Randy Ulseth, “We are happy to be a part of their success.”
