Kanabec Hospital to Build New Clinic in Pine City 

May 2010- Kanabec Hospital is dedicated to the health and wellness of its communities. In keeping with this commitment, Kanabec Hospital Board members have made a decision to build a new clinic in the Pine City community.

With the recent decision to purchase the Mora, Pine City and Hinckley clinics, the physical facilities in these locations were reviewed by the Hospital to assess structural quality. A determination was made that the growing needs of the Pine City community necessitated a new clinic facility.

With the comfort of its patients in mind, and building upon a commitment to service, Kanabec Hospital will be building a state-of-the-art facility where the latest advances in medicine and technology will be implemented. “We are proud to be a member of this community and are honored to receive the trust of its residents” says Kanabec Hospital CEO, Randy Ulseth.   “Our dedication to the health and wellness of our community means constantly innovating and advancing all aspects of our services and we view the opportunity to build a new clinic in Pine City as a means to providing the highest quality of care to our patients.”

The board reviewed building proposals from several construction and architecture teams and chose DSGW Architects out of Duluth as the design firm and Knutson Construction as the building management firm. “Planning medical facilities is a passion” says Rebecca Lewis of DSGW. “Each facility is different, just as each community or region has its identifying qualities. We are grateful to be a part of this exciting project for Pine City.”

Building is expected to begin this summer with a very aggressive timeline for completion forecasting a January 2011 completion date. The Kanabec Hospital board will be appointing a citizen of the Pine City community to serve on the clinic planning process committee as a representative of the Pine City area.

The new clinic will be located on the corner of Highway 61 and County Road 11 in Pine City. Kanabec Hospital is dedicated to serving our communities and providing the highest quality of patient care.
