Kanabec Hospital Awards 2010 Student Scholarships

Kanabec Hospital has created a scholarship in order to aid area high school students who intend to pursue a healthcare career. It is the hope of the hospital that the scholarship will ease the financial strain of obtaining a post-secondary degree while encouraging exceptional young people to pursue careers in the healthcare industry. Kanabec Hospital has awarded its second annual scholarships to four promising young students in our communities. 

This scholarship is in the amount of $2000 and is renewable for up to four years. The Kanabec Hospital Scholarship will be awarded annually to students from Mora, Ogilvie, Pine City and Hinckley High Schools who are pursuing an education in the healthcare field. 

The 2010- 2011 scholarships have been awarded to four very deserving seniors. Erika Ripka, the Ogilvie recipient, will be attending the Augsburg University while pursuing a degree in physical therapy. Carrie Danielson of the Mora High School will be attending Brown University to studying a pre-med program. Amy Schmitz of the Hinckley-Finlayson High School will be attending the College of St. Scholastica while pursing a physical therapy degree. Shauna Cronk of Pine City will be studying nursing at Anoka Ramsey Community College.

These students have worked hard throughout their high school careers and are excellent candidates. Kanabec Hospital is proud to support them in all their future endeavors. “These kids are the future of healthcare” says CEO, Randy Ulseth, “We are happy to be a part of their success.”
