Recently Kanabec Hospital hosted its annual Auxiliary Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. The event honors and thanks all members for their assistance over the past year.
This year’s festivities was dubbed “Hats Off to You” and guests were asked to arrive at Freddies Restaurant adorned in a hat of their choosing. The meal was a served by hospital staff and musical entertainment was by Doug and Mike.
New auxiliary officers are always installed during the event. Officers for the 2008-09 year are: Dorothy Bolen, president, Marilyn Humphrey, vice president, Marilyn Hoffbeck, secretary, and Phyllis Moe, treasurer. Phyllis has been an Auxiliary member for 37 years, Marilyn Humphrey for 23 years, Dorothy for 14 years, and Marilyn Hoffbeck for nine years.

The Auxiliary is a volunteer organization that’s purpose is to provide funds and services to
benefit Kanabec Hospital and its patients. Auxiliary volunteers manage the Kanabec Hospital Gift Shop, arrange school tours of the hospital, staff their Volunteer Information Program (VIP), provide hand-knitted caps for all new
babies, conduct book sales and much more. The Auxiliary also sponsors annual scholarships for those pursuing education toward employment in the healthcare field.
